Sweating while you shop counts as exercise

Málaga is more than sunny beaches, historic buildings, tapas and wine. You will quickly discover that the city has become a reliable shopping metropolis. The variety is impeccable. Modern stores that holds the latest fashion, plus all kinds of charming, small niche boutiques.

In the city center you can't miss the impressive shopping street Calle Marqués de Larios. The street itself and its old buildings form a wonderful scenery, and there are shops for everyone. In the city center you'll find several large shopping malls, easily accessible by foot.

Calle Marqués de Larios

Going to Malaga and not visiting Calle Larios, is like going to New York and not walking along Fifth Avenue. Calle Larios is definitely the city's main shopping street, and the side streets lead you to the old town. Here you'll discover wide streets, narrow streets, open spaces and small alleys with famous shops and niche shops of many kinds. It's worth mentioning that there's no shortage of cozy cafes and restaurants either, which can come in handy if you need a breather.

Keep in mind that the siesta is still important for the Spaniards. Several stores stay closed between 2pm and 4/5, especially downtown.

Larios Centro

Our favorite! One of the city's largest and most popular shopping centers, visited by about 15 million people a year. You'll find more than 150 stores, mostly well-known Spanish and International chains. Zara, Pull & Bear, Stradivaria, Springfield, Disney Store, Bershka, Foot Locker and Massimo Dutti, to name a few. There's also a giant Primark store. The brand known for bargains has become a big hit in Spain in recent years. If you want to fill up your fridge, or you're in a sudden need of some home appliances, visit the Eroski department store on the ground floor.

El Corte Inglés

El Corte Inglés - "the English cut" - is the most famous department store in Spain. Here you'll discover an impressive selection of well-known quality products and clothing brands. It's expensive, but it's worth it (?). The product range include clothes and shoes, cosmetics, interiors, electronics, books, toys, sports equipment, watches and jewelry. El Corte also offers a pharmacy, a hairdresser, an optician, a coffee shop, a restaurant and not least a very nice roof terrace where you can enjoy the city views while having a drink or a snack.

Plaza Mayor

Located outside the city center, in the direction of Torremolinos, you'll find this outdoor shopping mall built in the style of an old Spanish village. Plaza Mayor is a large commercial park with a good selection of dining establishments, entertainment for both adults and children, and of course a huge selection of shops in all categories. To name a few, there's a large Nike store, Pull & Bear, Massimo Dutti, Mango, Media Markt and a Mercadona supermarket. Leisure attractions like trampolines and go-karting make this a popular site for families, especially in the weekends. If you feel like somethings missing, IKEA is Plaza Mayor's closest neighbors.

Vialia Centro Comercial

This shopping center is part of the main train station and is close to the city bus terminal. There's good connections for a day trip to e.g. Fuengirola, Granada and Seville.

The Vialia is a new and modern shopping mall. Although not as big as many of the other malls, you'll find several well-known retail chains such as H&M, Springfield, Hunkemöller, Media Markt, Stradivarius and Zara, to name a few. Vialia also has a good selection of restaurants and cafes, some of the best cinemas in town, and if you come by car there's plenty parking spaces.

Málaga Plaza

One of the best shopping malls in town, and very popular among the locals. Close by El Corte Inglés, but smaller and more relaxed. The center's main attraction is probably the Fnac store that occupies two floors. The famous French retail chain has books, movies, music and electronic gadgets on the menu. Other shops include chains like Tedi and Primor, and if you love a good burger the trendy restaurant Goiko Grill is recommended. Málaga Plaza is also known for its events, such as live music, exhibitions and meet & greet with famous writers and artists. Visit the homepage for more information.

Rosaleda Centro Comercial

Rosaleda Centro Comercial

Málaga's first full-scale shopping center when it opened back in 1993, is located next to La Rosaleda football stadium, in the northwestern part of the city. Although slightly old fashioned, it has more character than most. Rosaleda boasts a good variety of shops over two floors, with both household names and smaller chains. Thus, in many respects more exciting for the foreign tourist than many of the other shopping malls in the city. It is worth mentioning that Carrefour, the well-known French retail corporation, has a large department inside Rosaleda. In addition, there's a cinema, and of course several restaurants to choose from.
