Paseo del Muelle Uno

The area surrounding the port of Málaga is truly stunning, restored as late as 2011. Muelle Uno is just a short walk from the city center.

Walking from the city center you arrive along a beautiful promenade - Paseo del Muelle Uno.

Arriving @ Muelle Uno, in the center of the pier, there are several nice lounges. A perfect spot for some snacks and cold drinks in the sun. We have our own favorite lounge right here.

Muelle Uno

Muelle Uno is more than a beautiful walkway along the pier. There is also an outdoor mall and various restaurants.

There's a good selection of restaurants in different price ranges. You'll also find some shops of the slightly more exclusive kind, there to catch the attention of the choosy cruise tourists arriving at the pier of Puerto de Málaga.

There's always a lot going on in the area around Muelle Uno.

On your visit, there's a good chance you'll bump into different events, as well as a variety of markets.

Playa de la Malagueta

La Malagueta is the beach closest to the city center and port area. If you walk towards the cruise pier, you'll discover Playa de la Malagueta to your left.

The beach itself is actually man-made, about 1200 meters long and 45 meters wide.

Along the beach there are a number of bars and barbecue restaurants to choose from. At some restaurants you can even monitor the progress while your food is being prepared on the grill.

It is possible to rent both hammocks and umbrellas, as well as different water sports equipment. This is available on different spots along the beach.

This beach is also very popular with the locals, and might get crowded during the busy periods.

Especially on Sundays, when many Spanish families have a tradition of excursions.

There are other beaches to choose from ...

...and some are within the length of a bike ride.

If you're an active family, rental bikes are perfect for sightseeing. You'll find that bicycle rental is easily accessible on different locations in the city center.

Smaller beaches, some slightly more charming and iconic, could be considered if you rent a car. Here's a link to spanishsabores.com's guide to 7 recommended beaches in Malaga.
